Great writing. I love a show with no covers, personally. Something about this 12/2 that I just love.

Great post. I really enjoyed/agree with your insight about Phish being so distinct from the HORDE/Wetlands eras of 90s bands.

The James Brown album they had on the bus was In The Jungle Groove. I believe this is mentioned in the Phish book.

If I had to choose what makes it onto a double-disc release from this tour, this entire Mike’s Groove would absolutely make the cut.

Correction on the video and photo you included from the night before — these are actually from 6+ months earlier (note the beardless Mike and Page, who were sporting beards from Conan through Rochester): https://phish.net/setlists/phish-may-18-1997-corestates-center-philadelphia-pa-usa.html

More convincing than the beard evidence, the video shows the Rangers as the visiting team, but they played the Sabres on 12/1/97: https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/199712010PHI.html

It’s happened. You’ve written about the one Phish show I’ve attended (or the night before the one I did.)
