nice write-up Rob. this reminds me of what Trey mentioned once or twice regarding his drug addiction: that the drugs really caused him to loose his sense of humor.

I think you were the guy on the AUD that yelled F*** YOUR FACE.

I guess I enjoyed CDT and Taste more than most. Maybe it’s the anticipation of 9/29. I enjoyed this one a lot.

I listened to this last night in anticipation of this write-up because this show gets talked about *a lot* online. And I agree with your assessment...the leaked soundcheck gives a lot of false hope for a show that is very by the books. The Gin doesn't rate against other fall '99 Gins. The 2001 opener is cool but also doesn't feel noteworthy given it's status. I think this one just made it into lore because of the Cypress broadcast, overall I found myself underwhelmed.

I think the Gin does for my taste, though I’m a big sucker for jams where Trey really hammers repetition on a great riff like this one. Still there are so many great Gins from 9/12 to BC, nearly all of them standout.. 9/12 is probably my subjective favorite, though I’d have a hard time saying 12/2 isn’t the best.

I hear that the tour by this point is sorely lacking in levity for some, and it’s hard to look at shows in a vacuum when your task is looking at a each tour as a full narrative and seeing everything in context, but… Say you WERE to look at this show in a vacuum: it would SLAP.
